Even if rose tangerine reminds me a little of the edT from 2009, the fragrance has a completely independent temperament, with more sweetness than its predecessor,which was rather powdery, which rose tangerime does not offer at all. Being someone that dislikes (some) synthetics, I am always quite happy to try natural perfume as no chance of encountering them. Not sure what 100% natural means here, but it did not scratch me in that way and it smells quite natural.

But now to today's 11th perfume advent calendar-door: I have a love/hate relationship with the original Chloe EDP. I could never understand the hype as it always smelt fizzy and sharp on my skin, a little like undiluted laundry powder. However during a recent trip to Thailand I wore a sample of the original Chloe for two consecutive days and surprisingly enjoyed the way Chloe smelt in a humid climate. Unfortunately upon returning to Australia (where we experience a dry heat), Chloe had lost much of its rosy, clean charm. I decided to test Chloe's flankers to see if they had anything in common with the scent I so dearly loved overseas. Roses de Chloe was first on my list of flankers to try. Freedom, lightness and femininity – these are the attributes that Chloé perfumes have stood for since their founding. The Chloé story starts in 1952 in Paris, where Gabrielle Aghion and Jacques Lenoir launched their own fashion collection. They were among the pioneers who relaxed the strict requirements of “haute couture” and provided customers with a more comfortable and easily understood “ready-to-wear” line. A little bit of citrus is mixed in, but just enough to keep this smelling perfectly like fresh wet roses. Nothing at all like Tea Rose from Perfumer's Workshop (sorry!) that the sour citrus slaps you like a lemon peel across the face. I don't wear citrus well at all so that's why I couldn't wear that one well.Seasonally, this is a spring and summer wear all the way. That’s when it’s going to shine and this isn’t going to get much play in the colder months. Imagine a fresh field of roses, soaked in dew as it dries in the sun. Precisely how it smells to me after it dries down.

On me, it lasts most of the day, fading but not forgotten, I keep moving my wrists and gettting the delicate scent of rose. It is not the big, bold yellow rose of yesteryear, where the scent was heady and lingering. It is today's modem rose, bred for prettiness rather than loudness.
