About this deal

Queeg" is a reference to Lieutenant Commander Philip Francis Queeg, USN, a fictional character in Herman Wouk's 1951 novel The Caine Mutiny and 1954 film of the same name. Both Queeg and Queeg 500 are in command of a vessel and prone to eccentric behaviour. Both display an oppressive command style and are prone to unprovoked angry outbursts.

This episode featured a large number of famous guest actors. Scottish-born Hollywood movie veteran Brian Cox played the Medieval English King while British comedy actress Sarah Alexander portrayed his French Queen. English actor Ken Morley portrayed the German commander Captain Voorhese. British television actress Alison Senior portrayed Princess Bonjella. The Cat Priest was, until The Promised Land, the only member of the species Felis sapiens seen on the television show Red Dwarf apart from The Cat. He was played by Noel Coleman. According to the DVD commentaries, the original Ace Rimmer blond wig, which according to Barrie was very comfortable, was stolen and every subsequent Ace Rimmer appearance was done using an inferior wig that was brown. There is also a very clear reference to the James Bond film Goldfinger in a conversation similar to the one when James Bond is on Goldfinger's trap. In the scene, Bond asks Goldfinger "You expect me to talk?" to which he replies "No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die". In the episode, Ace asks the German captain "You expect me to concede?" to which the captain replies "No Mr. Rimmer, I expect you to die!".The line "He stinks and I don't like him" was spoken by comedian Jim Norton in the 2002 film Spider-Man. It became a regular sound drop on the radio program Opie and Anthony, where Norton was third mic.

Many co-stars of the first few episodes have gone on to careers away from Red Dwarf, such as Robert Bathurst, Tony Hawks, Paul Bradley, Craig Ferguson and Mark Williams. But later series have attracted established stars, some of whom were fans of the show.

Secondly, this serves as a reminder to always think about the potential outcomes of my decisions. Whether it's choosing my lunch, designing a course, or approaching team and stakeholder conversations, considering the unintended consequences of my decisions helps me plan my approach better and mitigate mistakes before they happen. According to the original script of The End, McIntyre was killed by a minor radiation leak from the drive plate that Rimmer failed to repair. According to " Thanks for the Memory", Yvonne McGruder was the ship's female boxing champion, and the only woman Rimmer ever had sex with while he was alive. She is mentioned in a number of episodes, but her only on-screen appearance is inside a simulation in " Better Than Life", where she is played by Judy Hawkins. While he is normally sarcastic and lazy, he can be self-sacrificing and intelligent when someone's life is in danger.

As per a typical evening, he shouted up to me that my dinner was ready, and I headed downstairs. It was already on the table, kedgeree. Not really my choice of dinner, but I was just happy to be fed. It was delicious, it was smoky and there was plenty of it. Perfect, I thought, I could have it for my lunch the next day. I spooned a healthy portion into some Tupperware and put in the fridge. In the first Red Dwarf novel, the captain is a woman named " Kirk" and in the pilot for the unaired American version of the show the captain is a woman named "Tau".

Selby and Chen are played by David Gillespie and Paul Bradley, [10] respectively. Chen works in the ship's kitchens and both spend their time drunk. First appearing in the pilot episode, they spend most of their free time with Lister and Petersen getting drunk. Like the rest of the crew they are killed in the radiation leak. When the crew are resurrected in Series VIII, Selby and Chen are the first crew members the regular characters encountered. They have not been seen again. Andy Gell also appeared as a Soldier. The crocodile used in the episode is credited as being named Allison, supplied by London Zoo, despite the fact that it is clearly a rubber prop. [3] The medieval scenes were staged with the aid of the Mediaeval Combat Society and the Plantagenet Medieval Archery and Combat Society. [3]And if you did survive the Germans setting fire to your machine, you faced the unenviable choice between burning alive or leaping to your death as parachutes weren’t generally issued.
